NOOOOOOOOO!

On a number of occasions after entering an in depth looooooong reply to a posting, just as I was about to either revue or submit a reply I have either accidentally or incorrectly pressed a key on the board which has sent me onto another page wiping The contents of my reply from the box ...Is there anyway of having a pop up that asks if you wish to leave the page to help the kack-handed amongst us from in frustration leaving without adding our two penny-worth?

Type into your word processor application and then copy & paste. Also allows for spell/grammar checks and prevents 165 word sentences without capitals and punctuation.

With apologies to the person who submitted that one if English is not your first language.

John.

While we're on the subject, John, is there any chance of increasing the login timeout? If one is writing a "super-duper-long" post, one finds that one has been automatically logged out, and when one logs back in, although one is returned to the posting screen, the post content is wiped.

Alternatively, is there any way of the Forum software capturing the post text, and then requesting that the user logs back in before proceeding, a la vBulletin? Yes, one can draft longer posts in an offline editor, but it's a pain in the fundament. Also, when one is in the throes of creative frenzy, one might not realise that one has been typing for quite a while, and while in thrall to one's own enthusiasm, click the Preview button only to loose the whole frelling lot.

Solidarnosc!!! :head: :head: :head:

Ctrl+A selects the text you have written so far.

Ctrl+C copies it to clipboard.

So if it vanishes into cyberspace for any reason, you got a backup. :D

Ctrl+V to paste it back in again.

Surely you're far too long in the Forum tooth to need to ask! ;)

Of older origin, and still supported (but laterly undocumented) alternatives:

Ctrl-Insert: Copy to clipboard
Shift-Delete: Cut to clipboard
Shift-Insert: Paste from clipboard
Alt-Backspace: Undo

Has anyone hit a key combo by mistake and it's done something either really good or really bad and you couldn't remember what keys you hit?
