[I don't like adverts]When they come on the telly I channel-hop or browse the guide .... or go answer a call of nature, make a coffee, anything and even then I'll use the pause or the mute facility in case I can still hear the sodding things. There would need to be something really good on for me to have it on a commercial channel in the first place; sometimes I'll record and FF the bloody ads. I don't listen to commercial radio stations (I advertise on one big time but don't know the first thing about its shows/presenters and have never ever heard one of our ads live) BBC 6 music in the workshop or one of many stations from the tunein radio app on my phone via the hifi dock, no ads, no news, constant music - OK, bar the odd plug for the station itself. (Try addict radio - alternative, it's good!)

If the adverts we have to put up with here on this forum don't actually pay for the running of it, as per a commercial radio/TV station - can they not be removed?

don't have a problem with Wonga.com ads. don't have a problem with payday loan companies at all, they have very clear terms and conditions. Better than borrowing the money from some crack-addled chav with a pit bull that lives in its own faeces in a twelfth floor kitchen, and who thinks he's the local gangsta.
These pay day loan companies have put a lot of illegal loan sharks out of business, people like to ignore that.
And they cap at 2 months interest then its frozen.

The people who do borrow and get in trouble would borrow elsewhere and get in trouble anyway, with Wonga they don't get their heads kicked in for it.
That's the real world. If Wonga started sending people round at 11pm with baseball bats to collect money then that would be a different story.

anyway, you tend to get the sort of ads Google think are relevant to you based on your recent search and browser history :-/ And you don't have to click on them.

Personally I'd be happy to pay for forum use, it wouldn't be the only one I have to pay for. But I wouldn't object to ads anyway. But I wouldn't miss them if they weren't there either.

Go onto amazon & Google garden sheds. Then 'hello" all your adverts will be garden shed related.

Hi Team

I have found the best way to avoid the cookies and trackers is to load and run the program "ghostery". It is simple and recommended by a number of web security pros I know. Works well for me, keep an eye on the little spook on your task bar and take note of the number he blocks.

I got security lights now.

And I just switched mine on. 8)

I'm going to switch them off and see if that makes the ad go away.
