Frame Corner Protector Design for Valiani CMC's

I did some work for a regular customer just before Christmas and she has returned one frame with damage on the corner. I am certain the damage was not there when she collected it but I have to admit I don't put corner protectors on finished jobs.

She came in with two other good jobs and I had plenty of spare moulding the same so I am going to replace the frame FOC.

However I have decided to better protect finished work in future and have come up with a design for corner protectors I can make on the Valiani CMC out of mount board offcuts.

I cannot attach the design as I get a message saying .fu2 file extension not allowed.

If you want a copy email or PM and I will forward it for you to try. You may have a better one of your own to share or could adapt this one. Feedback welcomed.

Here, in the design section, you should be able to upload your .fu2 file.

If you have any difficulty with this, please let me know.

Thanks John. Sorry I had forgotten about this section. File now attached below.
30mm corner protector.Fu2
The file can, of course, be amended to suit various frame depths.

The file has been downloaded 14 times so I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for improvements. I have created some more to accomodate different depths of frame by enlarging the short side of the rectangle that cuts as a V Groove.

J2M - I have a suggestion - make up an fu2 file that has 2 or 4 corners protectors within the cut - by rotating the shapes you can get a more efficient cut - You could also make this up as a .plt file and then cut the shapes when you cut the mount - placing the corner protector cuts within the waste area cut out - cut mount and protectors all in one go.

As it happens I had already thought of that in the last week or so. To start with i tried rotating the design I had made but as it is made up of three separate shapes it meant rotating all three separately and repositioning so I have now saved them as individual Fu2 files.

As I do new jobs with different depths of moulding I create new files to get a range of sizes

If I don't think the fall out is likely to get used I am doing as you have suggested and using them for the frame i am cutting the mount for.

You can group and rotate.

Just made a new file with one of my modified designs, 20mm depth and 80mm sides, and by rotating one by 180 degrees they fit very nicely in some offcuts I have a huge quantity of that are fall outs from a mount I do for a big customer.

I can see some child labour being employed during school holidays!
