Emailing informing customers when their item is ready
Emailing informing customers when their item is ready
Hi John,
i know you've been busy.
But, i wonder if there had been any progress with integrating Est-lite with an email client to send a reminder message to customers as their work becomes "ready for collection"
This would have been incredibly handy this past few weeks for us as we managed to catch up with the backlog of work.
hope you're having a Happy Easter

Thanks for the reminder Grahame.
The main thrust of recent development has been with Pre-View (major enhancement coming up).
But there are a number of new features due for EstLite. Any Day Now...

i see my question has been answered!
Oval and Circular Mounts!
when we finally get round to playing with pre-view and getting it registered, this'll be high on the list of things to "Play with".
I'm aiming for the start of May for install and full operation, but mother has other ideas...
(I'm sure i can be most persuasive, considering i got Est-lite and a computer purchased and installed about 4 months earlier than she wanted )
how long do you reckon 350 Mouldings and 200 Mounts would take?...
i'm aiming for 16 hours.
Also, is it easier to work from chevrons or little "fingers" of moulding when photographing?

If you are organised and have short samples of each of your mouldings, you should be able to do about 100 mouldings in an afternoon.
I took this picture of about 100 of our mouldings when we first installed Pre-View in the shop. About 10% had to be re-photographed with better lighting. And there are always some mouldings that do not lend themselves too well to visualisation.
Most of Arqadia's profiles are online, and available to Pre-View, so you need not pgotograph any of these.
Mainline's are available in the same way, but many do not visualise well, as the samples are short.
Other suppliers will be making images of their mouldings available, so eventually photographing your own stock will not be necessary.
A single photograph could probably cover your entire mount range. The Manufacturers' swatches and sample cards could be laid out and pictured in one go

Hi John,
trying my new camera Powershot a640 with preview demo, v. 2.05
canon remote capture works fine however when i use pre-views built in capture it either says. Camera NOT connected or i've repeatedly had the error :--
CDOpenSource errorcode 0x0A000080, Device not found.
its odd, because i can take photos with the canon capture program no problem.
any ideas?

Close Pre-View.
Now, before plugging the camera into the computer ensure that Auto-powerdown is off and that the camera is in picture viewing mode and not in picture taking mode.
Switch on camera and connect up your USB.
The OS should recognise when the camera is plugged into the computer and display a dialog asking you to choose which application to run. When you see this, you must close the dialog without making a choice.
Run Pre-View.
If your problem persists, give me a ring (028 9024 7878).

Grahame, many thanks for highlighting this problem. As we have discovered, no amount of tweaking is going to get you up and running with your A640. I'll have to roll up the sleeves and delve into the latest Canon SDK in order to resolve the difficulty in interfacing with this model.
If it is not fixed by then, I will lend you an A620 when you register Pre-View to keep you going until the A640 can be brought into play.

thanks for looking into it john, and we may very well take you up on that offer... hopefully it wont come to that!
just browsing the web for power supplies at the moment, and awaiting to enter some negative feedback on amazon about a camera bracket supplier who seems to have gone out of business.
good luck with the new SDK, i bet canon have been fiddling again

Thanks for the call today, Grahame.
I'm glad that the issue is now resolved, and we found that Pre-View can remotely control the Canon A640.
