If I have understood your requirements correctly, most framing visualisation applications should fulfil your needs.

You should be able to download a trial of each in order to assess their suitability.

Hi John,

I have tried some and i didnt find a software where you can take a picture of a moulding and use it in the preview.
Is there any software in mind ? whats the best one you have tried?

Well, I've tried Pre-View, and found it pretty amazing. :)

But then I would say that - as it is my baby!

In Pre-View you can photograph the moulding, either along with the image to be visualised, or separately. Once sampled it can be referred to by reference number in future visualisations rather than having to re-photograph the moulding every time it is used.

Custom framer art can also be used with remote capture (from a camera) to photograph mouldings, mounts etc as well as the customers work to produce a visualisation.

(the product is better than the website!)

As a matter of interest John, what computer software do you run preview with now. I think it lists Vista as the preferred OS but where are we at now?

Pre-View runs on a PC under any Windows operating system from XP on.

At the Scenes framing counter we run it on a Windows 8 machine.

I use Sketchup, but I am not a picture framer and all my framing was 3D specializing in transparent covers. It takes time to make all your own models and collect textures.

Sketchup is compatible with other forms of 3D modelling, I believe the models can be saved in file forms that are used in CAD and other programmes. Never used Preview, would be interesting to know if the models are any way compatible.
