Underpinner

On Friday night whilst enjoying a Guinness or two, I seem to have purchased a underpinner off of a forum member, whilst I have seen this machine demonstrated at the spring fair I have no experience with cassese underpinners, it is a cs 299 xl2, are there any hints tips or just generally stuff I should know before I set it up?

I am looking forward to the 5 hour drive to pick it up from Devon (I did not think this through), I might do some secret shopper activity whilst I am there, so if you get a good looking, bearded, northan adonis in your shop next Wednesday it could be me.

Will keep an eye on this post as I have a new 299 arriving on Friday!

If Devon is closed on Wednesday's come down to Polzeath in Cornwall, most pretty much only close on Christmas Day!

Be careful! You can drive into Cornwall across the Taymar bridge for free, but when you want to leave Cornwall across the Taymar bridge they charge you money! Very cunning these Cornish folk!

It's the other way round going into Wales.

The bridge toll when leaving Cornwall is just another of the long list of good reasons to stay!!

Hope the 299 is as good as it looks as the using manual underpinner is not helping my tennis elbows!

If you have not made the journey to collect your underpinner yet do so, mine was delivered on Friday and all I want to do is join frames. The only thing that aggravates my tennis elbow now is squeezing the glue!

One observation is that it stacks pins straighter than when pinning manually (I was using a CS88) and it also seems to not force the bulge gap that I sometimes had in the back of the moulding once joined, even with the back pin more than 5mm from the back. I assume that it firing them in with more force fixes these 2 problems.

I guess this excitement is only going to be surpassed with the CMC arrives next week.

I picked it up on the Wednesday, I have not personally used it, othervthan to set it up, but Mr Jamie our number one framer says it's the dogs conkers.

I've had a 299 for the last 5 years.

Only had one problem with it in that time.

Mine has a double action foot pedal which turned into a single action foot pedal until it was repaired.

Other than that, No Problems and low maintenance to date !
