Thanks for postings on Ayous wood and especially your pictures. We've just bought some of this type
of Ayous wood moulding from Lion and are having the same problems.

The joy of plain woods. I sometimes use a bit iof framers tape stuck to the back where the cut will be, it helps hold everything together. I do find those rough textured mouldings a pain though, they seem to splinter where the grain has been raised. A saw would do it......

As its flat have you tried cutting it upside down?

The gaps requiring filler seem to be the least of your problem. Maybe it's just the photograph, but there looks to be a gap between the pieces, and the two pieces of wood don't look to be level.
