Newbie who is the Mountboard supllier for small quantities?

Post by Delron22 »

Hello all,

Can you good people please help a stuggling Newbie?

I've just purchased some framing equipment to begin making my own frames, for myself and friends and family.

I've been looking online for a Mountboard and backing board supplier, but most seem to want to supply large amounts only, any suggestions on who to use for competitive prices on smaller amounts?

Also - I have a couple of quite large pictures to do 1st and need the mountbaords bigger than A1 say 1200 x 800 or so.

Many thanks in advance

Hi and Welcome Del. :D

Have you tried http://www.wessexpictures.com/

They are one of the few suppliers who have their own delivery vans.

They stock practically all the major mountboard ranges and will sell single sheets of any of them.
That's not to say they will deliver a single sheet. You will need to make up a reasonable order,
they do more-or-less everything a framer might need so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

* Most suppliers only sell to bona fide businesses, so if you do get in contact you are a start-up business. (nudge nudge etc)

Maybe worth a visit, as you are both in Bristol.

We are regional distributors of Colourmount boards and hold the full range in stock, including standard, conservation and museum qualities and the new deep bevel conservation boards. All boards are sold by the sheet.

Good luck in your framing venture

Sarah/Gunnar I believe is right, in fact I think they were trying to sale some of their equipment on here last year

As you are in Bristol, you could pop over and see us in Bath, we can supply you if you want, if we don't have it in stock we can always add it to our orders

Or you could try Acorn Framing Supplies http://www.acornpfs.co.uk/ they deliver by their own van

To add to the other replies, most mountcard is supplied in one if the following sizes

1118mm x 813 mm (44" x 32")
1220 x 813 (48 x 32)

Or in jumbo size

1524 x 1016 (60 x 40)
1626 x 1118 (64 x 44)

Or sometimes 1524 x 1118 (60 x 44) I think
