looking for an ornate wooden frame

Post by BeatnikFraming »

I have a customer looking for a highly ornate carved wooden frame as in the picture attached. Think they have seen something similar on holiday and have set there hearts on it. Just wondering what others do when they get such an unusual request? I'm thinking it would be fairly impossible to source something like this but is there anything vaguely similar out there? They have said they would compromise on something that is teak coloured, around 10cms wide and really makes a statement. They say they've asked other framers in my area but none have been able to help. I'd like to be able to offer them something at least. I'm wondering about an ornate moulding and using a slip to give a bit more depth. I've looked at mainline and wessex but their ornate moulding are mostly gold/silver. Does anyone do an ornate wooden moulding?

These frames are made in Bali and other Indonesian islands:
