Hello Owen,
You have 3 choices ....
40 miles to Mersey Street Stockport - The Vernon Mill where Thornleys successor is located. Think its called Glass and Mirror. Well worth a visit to all the artists and sculptors in the Vernon Mill. I was there Sunday, could have stayed all day. Such an eclectic offering. I ordered a pencil drawing of a racing car, and a bought a wooden carving
50 miles to Wessex at Oldham
68 miles to Welsh Framing Supplies in Llanidloes.
Whilst I understand its fun to visit a supplier, I would also say any supplier will deliver to you, leaving you to get on with framing.
If you like driving then LLanidloes is by far the nicest drive, and I know they deliver to Chester.
Good luck with your framing ambitions

Re: mount board and framing lenghts
You'll be able to buy a good selection of mouldings, mountboard and most other framing paraphernalia from Wessex in Oldham and they're a very helpful firm to deal with. Pop over the Pennines tomorrow if you can and visit the Wessex Roadshow in Wetherby - details on the Wessex Pictures web site.
Incidentally does anyone know what happened to Ken at the Oldham branch? Did he retire, go elsewhere or what?
