Rough edges on mountboard bevels

Post by whitbyframer »

Hi. My mount cutter has suddenly started leaving rough edges on bevel cuts. I take it that this means the blade is blunt, or have I got a bigger issue? Thanks

Based on experience I'd say you need to change your blade :) If it's on the inside (next to the 'art') of the cut I'd change your slip mat too

Rough edges is usually a sign that the slip mat needs replaced.
I never go over the same bit twice as even just the second cut in the same place leaves me with ragged edges.

What are you using as a mat slip, concrete slabs or bricks might produce that effect, using normal mount board should yield far more than a net usage of 1 cut from a slip sheet.

I always tell people to do this when I'm training them. Largely because I know they won't do it every time - but at least they'll do it!
Thanks,
