I've recently found a supplier for deep box frames but I want to reduce the inside depth, so have removed the original wood spacers and looking to make my own inner spacers (similar to econospacers) with 5mm foam board. Instead of the original depth of 25mm I am wanting to cut the foam so the inner spacing is 20mm. The problem I have here now is the backboard will move further down into the frame and this in turn means the exisiting tabs on the frame are of no use so I will have to replace tabs in new places. I've tried removing original tabs but they leave a nasty hole and it clearly shows that something has been removed from the mdf.
I'm just wondering if there are ways of hiding tab holes ie by using some kind of tape around or using an outer board etc or similar. I'm pretty new to framing hence why I'm using existing frames rather than having new frames made up.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Leave the tabs in place (I assume they are the black bendy type?) and before fitting the backboard back in, cut a sheet of 5mm foamboard to the same size as your backboard and drop that in first and then your backboard. This will effectively fill the space left from your smaller spacers! Simples

Such a simple solution David,
Might as well lock the thread now, don't need any more solutions to mess things up
