Keyhole bracket hanger

I made a recent post about methods of hanging a cheap deep box frame but using the backing board as opposed to a hanging feature on the actual outer frame. The frame in question turns to mush when attempting to screw anything into it so wanted something for a backing board but had some depth to it so the frame can sit almost flush onto a wall. I've recently come across this keyhole hanger attached and think this would do the trick if its the right depth. However I can't find anything like it anywhere as it was just an image online. Is there anything like this available in the UK to buy in bulk?

You say this prototype is weighing in at approx 650gms, but the frame isn't strong enough to affix any normal hangers to.
I would suggest looking at a moulding like Lion L1924, with L1927 as an example.
IMO your Ikea type chipboard frame is unlikely to support your clock. These frames are cheap for a reason, one of which you have already discovered.

Why not just glue a small block of wood onto the backing board and centred up against the top side of the frame? Drill a 10mm dia. hole in it to hang the clock on.

Not all lower cost "off the shelf" ready made frames are likely to have this same problem. It seems pretty obvious to me that price is likely to be important as well. So perhaps you would be better looking for a ready made frame which is made from a polymer moulding instead. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

It strikes me that you would be better off with alligator hangers. Keyholes are a PITA. Hard to locate of the wall and
can hang crooked.

If cost is a factor, just tape a 3" masonry nail to tha back of the frame, with instructions to bang the nail in the wall and hang the clock from from the top rail of the frame :giggle:   :shake:
