Well, I thought it worth highlighting the fact that you actually said something useful

Seriously, do you also brace the moulding against something solid (to absorb the jolt) when you fired in the pins in, mate?

Hope the weather isn't too evil for your doggy this week, fella.

Thanks, that means a lot to me

You can brace, where I used to work, one of my business partners had a length of 2x1 screwed to the bench on the left hand side (she was right handed,) and she would place the frame against it and fire the Staples / Bendy Tabs into the frame, which was okay until she did it on a very small LJ moulding 402167000 and the fixings when straight through :Slap: :Slap:
I normally have the frame in front of me, holding the far side, (on thin moulding pull towards me), fire fixing into the far side, turn 90 degree, repeat, and so on

Seeing Steve's comments about bendy tabs and charcoals / pastels, I been thinking about buying one of these sometime, so that I can gently squeeze rigid tabs into the frame without causing any shock to cause pigment particles to become detatched during securing the back.

It's not really essential and I have been able to get by quite nicely without having one, but since having a stroke anything which helps adjust for my limited use of my right hand it becomes a little more interesting.

That might be a good tool for you Mark if you do not have full use back yet, and it's not a bad price from Lion

Compared to the Fletcher https://www.lionpic.co.uk/p/8196/Fletch ... int-Driver but the Fletcher does have a kick to it, so would send a shockwave, but I would still choose the Fletcher if I was doing lots of R/M's

Hi Steve,

I have the Framers Corner pneumatic gun to use for the bendy tabs, but sadly if I use it for the rigid tabs and that happens when I bend the rigid tabs down flat is they spring back up. I do have other manual guns which will fire the rigid tabs in flat (two Fletcher Terry Flexi-tab guns and two Flex-04 flex-tabs guns) and these will fire the universal type rigid tabs.

The early Fletcher Terry was from the era when the Fletcher guns could use the normal generic tab profiles and did not have the notched tab feature preventing using other makes of tabs, the second Fletcher Terry gun had to be modified by grinding away the lump inside the tab magazine, which only took about a minute to do, courtesy of the grinder in the garage across the road.

It's a good move to remove that little lump and then you can use ordinary generic profile tabs and save the enormous extra cost of using much more expensive tabs.

Forkbeard, you may well already know this, but using acrylic for glazing framed pastels is a no-no. Apparently, the static from the plastic can attract the fine particles from the artwork.

That explains when I go on holiday and stay in a static caravan, I get covered in dust :Slap: :giggle:
