Searching for Deep White Moulding

Post by millieri »

Afternoon All

I'm looking for a deep white moulding like the one in the attached photo which is 55mm deep with a rebate of about 50mm. This is to hold a canvas about 1.5" deep and still have space to set it back from the glass by 10mm or so with a thick mountcard. The frames face width is about 25mm.

I can't find anything like this for love or money so if anybody knows where to look, I'd be very grateful.

There is no visible join at the front face of the corners, so it looks like it has been hand finished. Whether it is an "off the shelf" bare wood moulding, one that has been custom machined to order is not easy to say, but here's some bare woodmouldings and their suppliers / order codes that might be worth checking out.

Many thanks Mark. I think you're right as the original framer does do a lot of hand finished frames. I'll check these out.

If the two mouldings I mentioned are deeper than you want and you have a table saw with a reasonably fine toothed saw , you can easily remove the unwanted extra depth of moulding.
