Does anyone know if C&H mountcutters are still sold in the uk

I have always used these for 30 years and the one I bought in 2001 is getting tired

As far as I know they should be still available through Nielsen Bainbridge, but dealing directly with the company is like pulling teeth, so I'm guessing that it would probably be easier trying to get one through one of the smaller independant suppliers who already are used to dealing with them.

A agree with what Prospero (I think) said a while ago: they are superb bits of kit with real soul to them.

I was very lucky to get it in with the deal for the Morso.

I cut my teeth on C&H , lovely machines, but I also agree with Not your average framer dealing with N/B is a pain in the bum , haven't dealt with them for about 10 years

Their later model called the C & H Advantage pro is a fabulous example of quality design and engineering. As an ex-engineer I like it very much and it's always been an ambition of mine to own one someday.

The only thing I have trouble with on mine is the bar that you set for the margin. It can slip a bit if I don't lock it
down just right. Otherwise, it cuts as well as it did in 1986 when it was new.
I bought it originally as I had to cut a mount too big for my old Magnolia cutter. Now's time, I thought.
I cost the thick end of £1K, but it's since earned it's keep. It wasn't until I started using it that I realised what a
piece of crap the Magnolia machine was.

Wow, Peter & Mark, I got a lot luckier than I first believed.

They come up on ebay, Mark.....I'll keep 'em peeled (good old Shaw Taylor ) for you.

I won't be able to afford one for a little while, so I won't be wanting one just yet, but thanks for the heads up.
