Heavy mirrors to hang

Post by Teresa » Tue 15 Oct, 2019 11:46 am

I’m framing some heavy mirrors. One is 1300 x1300 4mm as they have polished edges. Framed floating in a tray frame with sub frame and 6mm mdf. It will be heavy. what will be the best way to hang.

Sorry, I posted a response in another "mirror" posting. Your framed mirror is in the 55 pounds(25 kg.) range. Depending on the strength of the wood frame, I would use 3 screw strap hangers or use a French Cleat.

Why are you using 6 mm MDF as a backing? Its very heavy and 3 mm should work fine.
