Mounting Wedding Rings
Hi all. I have just had a customer in the shop asking to frame 2 photographs with 2 wedding rings between them (these are to be tied together with a thin ribbon). I wondered what you thought would be the best way to attach the rings to the mountboard as I usually stitch using fishing line or clear nylon thread but don't want holes to be seen in the mountboard were I push the needle through. Thanks for any ideas.

Re: Mounting Wedding Rings
I have just held a very old tin in place in a frame by in-bedding small, round magnets in the mount board. Mount board peels away in layers from the back using a sharp utility knife.

Thank you for the welcome
The wedding rings are gold so magnets wouldn't work. Will keep that one for another day though, thank you.

I would cover the mountboard with felt and this would not leave a visible hole to be seen in the mountboard. It's not rocket scince, just quick, simple and easy. It should not tax the skill levels to much either.

Hmmm... not sure that I like the idea of a piece of felt between the two photos. Good idea if it was just the rings though. Thank you

Re: Mounting Wedding Rings
No problem, have two mount apertures for the photos and another aperture and have a piece of felt cover mountboard behind that aperture to mount the rings. Get the right colour of felt and it would look great.

Re: Mounting Wedding Rings
Is there any reason why you can't use a thin needle to make very small holes that would be hidden by the rings themselves? Or could you not put the holes under the ribbon that being used to tie the ribbons together?

Re: Mounting Wedding Rings
The way I would tackle this would be either cover the mount board with velvet , if yo dry mount the velvet to the mountcard , then you can cut the windows as normal and still see the bevel, you will not see any holes in the velvet when you sew the ring on.
The other way would be using suede covered mountcard, if you use any of the dark colours, you will not see any holes when sewing the rings on
In both cases, when cutting the windows in the mount, use a nice new sharp blade in the mountcutter

That's what I said, except the chruhed velvet I use is called crushed velvet display felt.
