Unless somebody has got it (and I haven't, sorry), the best thing I can suggest is to do a search on Ebay and then Save the search, so that you will be notified if ever it gets offered for sale. You might know this already, but not everybody does so I thought it was worth mentioning.

Abebooks can be quite good for out of print books.

I've had books from the USA that have taken about 3 weeks. Post seems to be taking a bit longer these days though.

I've used Abebooks a lot over the last 15 years. Generally USA has taken 2-3 weeks, India was a long one at about 30 days, UK stuff varies a lot, some arrive in 2 days, some take 2 weeks.

I have a few of her books, but not that one, I find they are very American orientated, so a lot of the materials are not available over here, or are called something else over here.....

Steve is not kidding, all those black and white photos of wierd and wacky mouldings that over here would belong to the era of the 1800's. Then there's the language, it is aid that we are two nations separated by a common language, boy isn't that true. Also there's even a reference to things being damaged by termites, I'm glad that we don't get termites over here.
It's an interesting read, but much more appropriate to be read by American framers, than UK frames. I suppose that lots of people will now be all wanting their own copy of this book. I hope that not to many of them will be disappointed, when they succeed in obtaining a copy of this book. Also the look at feel of the feel of what is considered normal in the USA is not what would appeal to many UK customers at all.
The book is an interesting read for those who already have the necessary training and experience, but not a book for learning how things are done in the UK. You will spend ages trying to locate, so many American style mouldings and materials over here in the UK, without any success whatsoever. There are a few interesting in the book, but it's not worth spending a fortune to obtain a copy of this book.

Re: Can you help? Looking for Conservation Framing by V Kistler Book
It's still interesting to read just out of interest, by not worth paying crazy money for now that it's not obtainable without finding a secondhand copy, as secondhand book prices are usually based upon availability and demand. I've got most of the series of her books, as I am always looking for ideas to adapt and put a new twist on, because I am always trying to be different, as a way of out doing the competition.

Vivian's were probably all last updated in the 1990's. Although good reading, you might want to look for something more current.

If it's of interest, its still on the list of suggested reading for the advanced conservation FATG exam.

Quite right Justin, it is. The Advanced Conservation study guide is in the process of being updated, and the suggested reading list is under review. Vivian's book is not the only one which is hard to find. Anyone who is considering taking the exam will find that reading the CPD Short articles which are available to all Certified Framers will cover pretty much everything they will need to know. They are downloadable from the Guild website. If there are any questions or doubts, Framer's Committee members are always at the end of the phone on the Technical Helpline, and also available through the Guild's FrameTalk Forum. They can also be contacted by email fsqc@fineart.co.uk.Justintime wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jul, 2020 1:19 pm If it's of interest, its still on the list of suggested reading for the advanced conservation FATG exam.
The Fine Art Trade Guild is owned and run by its members, and for the benefit of its members. These members share a common goal, which is to promote and encourage the best in art and framing.
