Blade Sharpening.

Hi all.

I've noticed recently that my mitres are not as clean as they once were and when I join the final one, it usually doesn't quite marry up, with a noticeable gap. I'm a bit OCD about such things.

I use a guillottine to finish my mitres after they come off the framing saw. I suspect I need to tinker with the 45 degree settings on my guilottine but I also suspect the blades are not what what they once were.

Ideally, I'd like a Morso but I can't justify the expense so I'll have to plod on with my guillotine, so I will need to get the blades sharpened.

Can anyone recommend a blade sharpening service please that may come with courier pick up as I want to avoid the Post Office at the moment. Our 'local' PO is 6 miles away.

Thanks. :)

You don't need to go to the Post Office, do click and drop online, and you can pay £0.70 (I think) and request a pick up from you, according to the TV adds, you are doing it the right way, get the blades sharpened then 'Tinker' when you have put them back on

Which supplier do you use for your materials? Most suppliers provide a blade sharpening service. If they are Morso blades they must be hollow ground

Ashworth & Thompson provide a hollow grinding service for Morso Blades. We have been doing this for well over thirty years.

I use a local framer near Glasgow for my materials. I'm not sure if they sharpen their own blades, they have Morsos. I will ask next time I'm there, which could be a while. Thanks for the suggestion, well worth the ask.

Thanks for the replies.

I've not sent them off yet, still looking into the suggested options but hopefully, they'll be away soon.

It might be worth looking at Centrado for your supplies.
They will have a van out your way once a week. If your order is over a certain amount you get free delivery.
They can collect and drop off your blades after sharpening.
