Image of picture frame components

Post by Fellows Framing »

Hi all,

Does anyone have, and who and would not mind sharing, or know where I would find a good quality image of the components of a picture frame with mounted art work in please?

Its for marketing to inform people digitally that there is more than meets the eye.

Thanks
Sarah

My hardware shops sell replacement stick pads for fixing interior mirrors to the inside of car windscreens. These pads are have very strong self adhesive surface. How about sticking some of these fittings to a piece of 12mm MDF. That way customers can see the actual fittings and choose what they need from on the displace board. I have been thinking of doing some thing similar for a long time, but never got around to it.

I bought some let over rolls of wallpaper from a local charity shop and was thinking about covering the board with the wallpaper to create a nicely finished display board. I think that I might fit a frame around the edge of the glass as well. The board would probably include prices and when I need to increase my prices, it would be time to make a new board.

Thinking about it what items would you display on such a display board and perhaps how many items, on roughly what size display board. Myself, I would space things out quite a bit to increase the visual impact for each item. Another thought, what sort of mark up would most forum members think would be sensible for such items. I was wondering about a 5 times mark up. Would you make them in to packs so that they end up buying whatever quantity is in the pack and hence a more worthwhile price per sale!

I think the OP is asking about a cross-section diagram, showing the components that go into a framing package, to illustrate that it isn't 4 sticks of wood and a bit of glass.

The forum used to have a "Wiki" section and I think (but could be wrong) that there was an image of a cross-section in there, but the Wiki has disappeared.

If you Google ‘picture frame components’ then select Images there are dozens that illustrate this.

Thank all for your feedback.

Just to clarify what I was after was a good quality digital image (free to use) of a frame breaking down its components so like Gesso&Bole said as a cross section that illustrates that it isn't 4 sticks of wood and a bit of glass. I can send this to clients by email, use on social media etc

Its not for in the workshop as I show clients physical samples.

Now sorted but thanks again.

Sorry for misunderstanding what this thread was asking for earlier on.

Just take some photos yourself, then you get what you want and you can use the moulding in your collection, if you use someone elses, and you don't stock that moulding, that's the one your client will want :sweating: :giggle:
