Shadow mount question

Post by Orde02 »

Hello all.

A quick question, any help most appreciated. If I'm shadow mounting a small print, what is the best way to secure 3mm foam board to my mount board? I've used ATG double sided tape before but I'm not sure how secure it is. After that I used thread put stitches in each corner, as well as the tape, to mechanically hold the foam board. Perhaps someone can suggest a better way of securing it?

Thanks in advance

Matt

We use a small amount of ATG to get the instant hold for positioning and then dots of Evacon-R to secure it more long-term. We put it under weight until the glue has gone off and then it is ready to be used.

Evacon-R is archival and reversible with water should that ever be required - but very unlikely to be needed in these circumstances.

A simple and short question deserves a simple and short answer -
- do exactly as Tudor Rose said.

If you're not too bothered about conservation, use PVA wood glue instead.

I'm Evacon, but without any ATG. I like that it allows for adjustment before weighting.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've bought some Evacon to try out.
