Cassese CS810

Post by countrystudio »

I have just been offered a Cassese CS810 plus a Bambi BF239 compressor at what sounds like a very good price.
£150 for both. Good buy? Any advice or comments?

Sounds like a bargain but try them out first if it's local. Mitre a few small pieces of moulding, from very soft wood to oak; take them along and have them joined. Then take the wedges out of the machine and have it go through the motions on a moulding for about 100 times. Oh and make sure there's no noise like a radio on etc and listen for faint hisses at the air joints.

Alistair/Heather

the CS 810 is a fantastic machine, and in its day was THE machine to have. Consequently some of the ones around now are very 'high mileage', or have been cobbled together from different machines.

If you were to buy a second-hand 810 from a reputable company such as Framers equipment in Northampton, they would check over the main, and expensive components, and give you a short guarantee, but they would charge you upwards of £800 + VAT for the underpinner.

If any of the main components need replacing, they will cost way more than £150.

So. Is it a bargain? If its any good, yes. If its a pile of ***p then you will just be buying trouble.

Maybe worth giving Pete a call at Framers Equipment and asking his advice. (www.framersequipment.co.uk)

Hi CountryStudio,

£150 could be a good gamble....Compressor could be worth that, Sounds to good to be true, ask about its history

Give it a good look over and a try out as Roboframer said, ALWAYS TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.

Follow Gesso&Boles Advise and give my brother Pete a ring beforehand at Framers Equipment Tel 01604 790810 he may know the history of the machines, he will let you know if he thinks its past its best and if all spares are still availabe as he is a Main Cassese agent.

He can supply all spares and service, but if its uneconormical to replace parts like the cylinder, he will tell you. he also has many secoundhand machines available

Kind regards
