I've been asked to frame a rally plate.
Not this actual one but this kind of idea:
Any advice or ideas?
Ideas for framing a rally plate...
Re: Ideas for framing a rally plate...
Looks like there's 4 holes you can use there, so just use screws, (maybe with some small rubber washers or silicone 'O' rings for protection) through the mounting board in to something more substantial.
I'd position it with quite a bit more space below than above otherwise the negative space formed by the arch can make it look top-heavy.
Then it's just a case of what colour background and a frame with enough rebate depth for a spacer.

If you take a look at the number plates on your car you will notice the screw heads have a plastic cap on them. Perhaps you could buy/scrounge a few from a car dealership.

I framed a metal plate painted with a portrait of Carl Foggerty on it, I went to the local fabric shop and bought 1m of black & white checked material and used that as the backing so it looked like a chequered flag, it only cost £3 and I had plenty left for other projects

That's a great idea Newie, but I couldn't find any chequered fabric today, so I think I'll need to do without this time.

Here's my finished effort. The customer was chuffed with the result.
I think the chequered fabric would have set it off nicely peeking out from the back, but there was a tight deadline unfortunately. I'll maybe buy some to have ready.
I used the registration screw caps which I think looks better than screw heads, so thanks to Jonny for that idea.
