Framing artwork without mounts

I've got a customer who is sure that she doesn't want any mounts.
If I'm going to use glass, what options are there and what looks best?
Are the Frametek spacers available in the UK?

I had the same recently, and with a pastel Had to explain what would hapen without a mount. We settled on a spacer, cut from mount board on the keencut narrow enough to be hidden under the rebate.

Lion sell Framespace in various sizes. If you have it delivered you have to buy full packs but if you can collect then you can buy any quantity.

Actually I think I did it by hand. Don't think the keencut could cut it.

This is a recent frame I did for a watercolour. Again, no mount showing but an inner frame beneath the glass with a thin mount cut and then hidden by the rebate.

The only thing is.... If the item is paper and all the edges are restricted then it is going to go wavy. Spacers or no spacers.
Different matter if the work is on a substantial board.

Still, the customer is always right.

you could use the 'hedgehog' method...
cut a mount just slightly smaller than size of artwork and then cut an aperture 3cm in all the way around making sure you use registration marks! Then place the fall out onto back of art work and hinge with gummed acid free hinging tape only sicking 3mm to artwork and leaving rest of strips dry. do this around each side leaving 2-3cm gaps between. then place the mount back over the fall out lining up registration marks and carefully pulling hinging tape through. Tear off more strips of tape and apply water to the whole strip and place over the pieces sticking through the mount.
This will give you a more ridgid piece to work with and will stop it from going wavy.
