Hello all,
Like some others here I started framing by accident. My brother-in-law was a life long framer and when he retired he had a lot of aluminium mouldings that had not been used for years. Aluminium was popular in Australia a long time ago, but now wooden and synthetic frames dominate the market. Anyway, I liked the aluminium and http://www.justframekits.com.au was born. Because we a supplying a very small niche, business has grown and grown which is great. I am certainly not a conservation framer, but I take a pride in producing good frames. I have been tempted to move into wood from time to time, but then wake up and think it would be better to partner with someone who already does wooden frames. My web site needs updating but I have too much business already and I quite like it anyway. My son has another website http://www.wonder.ee which is much smarter than my page and has an amazing frame builder he developed on it. He will probably partner with other framers as I just like simple, limited choice. Black frame, white mat is good! I don't know how everyone offers the huge range of frames they do.
I have read framers forum for a few years now, and at last feel brave enough to join.
Cheers, Ian
