why cant I put an avatar picture in my profile or am I doing it all wrong.

The picture that you wish to use for your avatar must be located on another website, e.g. Photobucket, or your own website. You cannot simply upload an image from your own computer direct to The Framers Forum. Once you have located the image that you wish to use, right click on the image, and click on 'Copy Image location'. Go back to your User control Panel on The Framers Forum, and paste the link into the box titled 'Link off-site', under the Edit Avatar tab.

At least, I think that's how I did it! :shock:

I used this opportunity to update my avatar and check how it works.
What Trillian says is correct, just make sure the size isn't over 100 x 100 pixels.
You can go on a site like http://www.avatarsdb.com/ and pick one.
