Gunk on scissors.
Anybody got any tips on removing tape adhesive from scissors? Tried scraping with metallic edge, tried nail polish remover, tried swearing.

Sniff one, drink one, burn down the workshop.

Re: Gunk on scissors.
I scraped most with a blade, then clean with white spirits.
It works for me, but if it didn't I would just get new scissors.

Lighter fluid, as above. Unsticks Sellotape from paper too - without damaging the paper at all.

another vote for lighter fluid, or white spirit. Lighter fluid is also a solvent for masking tape and can sometimes remove marks from paper including photographs but test a small area at the edge first!

I thought for one terrible minute you were on about the Greene King version.. We use lighter fluid which is good - and of course can be converted to a napalm gun very easilyFramemaker Richard wrote:IPA (isopropyl alcohol
Re: Gunk on scissors.
Greene King's abomination of an IPA certainly wouldn't strip gunk, sad really as I can't see much use for it.
Modern breweries using the name IPA on an ale un befitting the style is a pet hate of mine. Sorry wrong forum again

Oh and don't get me started on American ipa's or black ipa's. Abominations of a historic beer style of national importance.
Re: Gunk on scissors.
You need to go to Cambridge to drink Greene King's IPA. It doesn't seem to travel well and is difficult to keep.Graysalchemy wrote:Greene King's abomination of an IPA certainly wouldn't strip gunk, sad really as I can't see much use for it.

Re: Gunk on scissors.
Its not the case that it doesn't travel it is that it is completely out of style of an IPA. Its abv is so low compared to a true IPA and they could have chosen some more traditional hops. Unfortunately coming out of large commercial brewery it is brewed by accountants and admen.
Probably nothing wrong with the beer it just doesn't deserve to be called an India Pale Ale.
Rant over

Those cheap plastic window scrapers are good, and of course they take Stanley blades.
