What is this called?

Hey guys,
New to framing.
I have a bunch of uv acrylic and I have been using it on both sides of a piece (like a floating frame) and connecting with the cheap rail stuff you get on the cheap frames from Walmart, etc. Where there is just the piece of acrylic and cardboard connected by the 4 pieces.

What is this stuff called?
And where can I buy it?

I would like to be able to get it by itself and ideally something a little better quality.

You can get bench sized off cuts for around the 20 quid mark.

Arqadia do an aluminium framing system. Not sure if it is the same thing. They get it from Cardinal Aluminium Company based in USA.

As you don't seem to be getting anywhere - this might help...

This is "U" channel plastic edging (your photo looks like it has a metal core under the black - which is good) - in the UK it was branded as "Claylastic" edge trim & was commonly used for edging 3mm / 5mm / 10mm foamboard. It was commonly available in black / silver / gold.

Strictly speaking it was meant for short term graphical displays - light in weight - as the foamboard would also be - so very portable.

There was even a tool for creating mitred corners - called "mitre pliers".

I am pretty certain that Lion list it in their catalogue - for the right job - it is pretty useful stuff.

If you good "U" channel edging you should find similar products that may work for sandwiching acrylic.
