Cassese clamp type

Post by Ed209 »

I have a CS200 and have been experimenting with the various clamp rubbers and so far found the hard green round bung the best particularly as you can get away with out using the spacer bar for less tall mouldings
Just wondering what others prefer and tend to use as there default one.

The Green bung is for hard mouldings and can mark soft ones my default is the white triangle,

Mine is the yellow, very rarely do I use the green one for hard wood, must be around 6-7 years since I last used it
I never use the spacer bar if the moulding come up to the top of the blocks, never use it on any of the D&J Simons FEST range

I love this one as

https://www.lionpic.co.uk/p/13263/Lion- ... or-Cassese

(a) its easy to remove whilst clamping moulding to ensure perfect alignment

(b) together with the white presser its ideal for tray frames without having to alter the height - Lions for the inner part and white one for the edge.

I just have a block of wood for popping to fill the gap when joining tray frames

Black triangle for me, but most of my mouldings are flat/square hardwood profiles.

Forgot to say, you can just experiment to see what works best for you, in fact that goes for most things in framing, it's how I learned, read it up in books and adapted for the way I work

Sorry for the delayed reply Ed.

the inner part of the moulding is pinned using the Lion's presser which is quite deep and the outer using the white shallow trianglular one as you just slide out the Lions one and insert the white - saves having to adjust the height of the presser arm.
