Aubergine Art is a growing, family run business based in Wimbledon, London, providing the highest level of picture framing and art services. We are looking for a highly motivated and experience individual, to manage and grow our framing department. The successful candidate will be in charge of running and managing our busy workshop.

Job Description

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

• Planning and overseeing the day to day running of a busy framing company.
• Managing a small term and making sure all work is of the highest standard and projects are completed efficiently and on time.
• Communicating with clients on a daily basis to ensure they receive the highest level of customer service.
• Coordinating with internal departments and third party suppliers to ensure that jobs are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
• Leading weekly-planning meetings with your team and directors.
• Providing daily supervision as well as mentoring, training, development and performance management of your team.
• Collecting and analysing data in addition to testing solutions for process improvements and new initiatives, to drive a culture a culture of continuous improvement.
• Monitoring stock levels of mouldings and framing supplies.
• Manufacturing frames to a consistently high standard.
• Operating a hot press and other machinery to produce a host of different products.
• Operating a selection of different framing machinery such as Morso cutters, underpinners and mount cutters.
• Advising customers on product choice and processing payments from any sale.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following

Skillset –

• Be competent in all aspects of framing, including mount cutting and wood staining all done to a museum standard.
• Have excellent customer service skills.
• Be a forward planner, with first-class time-management and organizational skills.
• Be a highly motivated individual, who works well in a fast-paced environment with measurable targets.
• Be a confident person who feels at ease communicating with customers, third party suppliers and internal teams.
• Have a flexible outlook and be able to accommodate moving timelines and changes to projects at short notice.
• Have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Have an exceptional eye for detail.
• Have a commercial mind and be able to identify where cost efficiencies can be made.
• Have a ‘can do’ attitude, be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks often with conflicting deadlines.
• Contribute effectively as a team player.
• Always be looking to improve skill base and keen to learn new skills.

Ideal experience –

• Ideally a minimum of 5 years professional framing experience.
• Have prior experience managing a team.
• Have prior experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Have demonstrated ability ti manage high volumes of workflow, including prioritization, planning and delegation under tight deadlines.
• Advanced understanding in the use of framing machinery such as Morso cutters, underpinners and mount cutters.
• Have intermediate knowledge and understanding of IT.

Other –

• Able to work in the UK
• Current, clean driving license
• Interest in the art world desirable as we are also a gallery.
