Looking for CASSESE CS940or similar

Post by canvasideas »

Hi folks on the look out for a decent saw
I'll probably end up getting the CASSESE CS940 HAND OPERATED DOUBLE MITRE SAW from scratch.
But putting the feelers out there if theres something on the market or going on the market

Many thanks

Russ

The Cs940 is brand new to the market (i am yet to see one in the UK) so will be impossible to purchase second hand for the foreseeable future.

Brevetti Prisma mitre saws are worth a look as their capabilities are similar to the Cassese, Wessex have them listed (new) on their website but these do come up for sale from time to time.

I got hold of a CS940 a couple of years ago and it's a great machine. If you want to pick my brains on it, just ask.

Hi, I am contemplating buying a Cassese 940 and wondering how the cut compares to the 969. Price or production capacity not factors in my decision.. I want to achieve the best cut on smooth guesso mouldings like the LJ large confetti range.. I hate filling coloured mouldings :)

Have you made your decision yet? I’m in a similar situation, I’ve already got a Brevetti Prisma, but fancy a 940.

Hi
I also have prisma. I couldn’t find any info Sao finally rang Cassese in France. The long and the short is both machines are excellent but the 969 has the edge as being heavier and bigger blade, the cut is very stable..

If it wasn’t my obsession with clean rear cuts then the manual saw seems extremely easy to use and great visibility

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for your help. Do you mean that the 940 gives poorer rear (back of the moulding) cuts than the 969? If so then I won’t be investing.

Humm: my concern was cutting mouldings like the LJ larger confetti range.. these have a thick minimalist guesso finish that cracks under a morso with fresh blades and both my prisma saws with fine tooth blades. I get the impression that the 940 is an improvement on my kit but the 969 is better.. he said the improved stability achieved by its weight helps the cut as well

Thanks again for your help.

The 969 would be great, but it’s a big beast, needs 3 phase, lots of air etc.

I fancied the smaller lighter 940, but would like to try before I buy.
