Daler mountboard corner samples

Post by pramsay13 »

Does anyone have a spare set of Daler mountboard corner samples?

Arqadia was always my go-to board when supplied by Holroyd but now Centrado has taken over they don't supply Arqadia or LJ, so I've been told to buy Daler but I've been looking for a set of samples for over a year and still haven't been given them, I'm just using the wee booklet instead.

Sorry don't understand why you dont get you mountboard direct from LJ , but thinking about it Daler is a better size 120x81.5 than the LJ's 112x81.5
I don't think I have ever had a set of Daler corner chevrons in over 20+ years I have been using them (Daler), I always cut them myself, you can cut them whatever size you like then, I have mine set at 8cm borders

Somewhere on my travels I met a framer who made his own corners in each colour he stocked.

He cut them 8 cms wide by about 80 cms long

Then he could position the 2 over the customers artwork to make a "temporary" full sized mount
He told me Joe Public found it much easier, and quicker, to visualise their job, than using the standard corners

Have I explained this clearly :?:

Thanks Steve. LJ only do packs of mountboards so I would have to buy 5(?) sheets of each colour whereas Centrado will split them.

I could make my own but again I would need to buy one of each colour so maybe 50 sheets at around £6 each for a full set.

Well start with the most common colours, whites, off whites, ivory , textured whites, black, dark grey, have a look at the LJ you have stock of now and the ones you use most of the time, and see if you can match the colours, then order them, you don't need to get them all in right at this moment, I would watch out for the dark colours, I have found that they mark very easy. If I was you I would still use LJ Black, I use black a fair bit so don't mind buying a whole pack at a time, but I use Colourmount as the sheet size is bigger so get a bigger yeald per sheet, but then I do sell on line so use a lot
If you use LJ Hayseed, 8065 , then Daler's 8697 is a very close match

You can buy Daler chevron's from Lionpic if that's any use? There doesn't seem to be a min order anymore either

I think that the no minimum order is only if you order online.

Pete.. maybe worth having a word with Ken.. he may be able to get you a set from Daler... but I know they are waiting to 'get someone' to cut the new ones since they changed the board make-up as the colour tones have changed ever so slightly. I have remaking my own chevrons in light of the delay from Daler... no doubt I have offcuts of most colours if youd like me to keep hold of them for you??

I have found on one colour I use a lot of in one go, usally 20 + sheets per order, that each batch is different :head: , I now have to ask my supplier to make sure they are all from the same batch :head:
