Ecommerce subsite

Post by Grahame Case »

Hi all.

just getting round to launching our webstore again, have chosen Shopify this time round, as it will eventually integrate (when funds allow) with a back office inventory and purchasing system called Brightpearl

we have initially soft launched at http://shop.haveitframed.co.uk and will be adding new lines all the time, i'd appreciate some thoughts and suggestions a sort of ""peer review"" of it before it goes into the wild

Hi Grahame

Just taken a quick look at your new online shop. Here are some initial thoughts:

Plus points:
  • I like the look/design of the site, modern and uncluttered.
Good quality images that didn't take ages to download (even on my steam-powered internet connection!). Although, I would probably put a bit more space between the images on the catalogue page for greater clarity between the different items (especially as each image has different dimensions).
Easy to read fonts and text. No typos or grammatical errors found (except 'catalogue' being spelt 'catalog' when I emptied my shopping cart, but if the software is American, then that would be why!).
    Easy to navigate
Not so plus points:
  • Had to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find a link to contact you. I know that you have the live chat facility, but for when you are off-line, can customers click on the 'need help' button to leave an email? If not, they may want a link/email address that it is nearer the top/quicker to find.
Live chat- I understand that a lot of people may make use of the facility, but I personally feel that it intrudes into the site too much. It popped up a number of times, covering the image that I was looking at, and then it wouldn't go away, despite clicking on the cross :( I found this a bit annoying, as though someone is shouting to get my attention! Perhaps it could be located somewhere where it doesn't cover the images?
The description text of the first item (Adrift) http://shop.haveitframed.co.uk/products ... n-faulkner appears differently to the other items. On my monitor, it shows up as black text on a thin white strip, over the grey background. I checked about 5 other items, all of which appear as black text over the grey background.
These are just my initial thoughts. On the whole I like the basis of the site, and will be interested to see how it develops.

Good luck!

Hi Grahame
I would tend to agree with what Rolf has said, especially the live chat, even in the bottom right corner, I find it still a bit irritating, some times appears before the images have down loaded, which could make some visitors/shoppers leave your site, can you have it appear say 20 seconds after the page has finished loading.

But I do like the design and look of the site, nice and crisp, clean and simple, well done

Steady Grahame, that was supposed to be a secret.

Anyway glad you now know who's who, although come to think of it our French alter ego hasn't told us the name she goes by, which might be helpful in removing confusion. :-)

Yep, very definitely Rolf today.
