Oil Free Compressors

Post by Rabbie Side Burns »

HI Folks - on the verge of buying a new oil free compressor and am considering Bambi HT 24P or the Bambi VT75. I will be running a computerised Mount Cutter, Underpinner, Staple Gun, and Air Blower Gun off it. As there are only two framers in the workshop at any one time, it is unusual for more than one of these to be used at the same time for a significant amount of time. My question is, will the HT 24p surffice or will I definitely have to go for the VT75 (or any other model suggestion). I will obviously have a chat with suppliers of these machines to get their take, but was wondering if you folks have any experience with a similar set up? Thanks!

I'm not sure how useful this will be to you Rabbie, but without going into the exact air requirements of our respective machines it would appear that our equipment set-up is very similar to yours.

Our Jun-Air 25 litre twin pot compressor handles our needs adequately.

If and when you expand, just buy a second one, that's what we did, we have one running the cmc + air tools and one for the casesse, less legal stuff too.

we have a really noisy cheapo one at our other branch for the air tools, we put it in the cellar and have a switch in the shop, you can't hear a thing :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of a second, small compressor, but space is at a bit of a premium and we wouldn't be able to do your cellar solution easily in our premises IFGL. We have a Jun-Air Compressor at the mo John, but wanted to go Oil Free just to make sure we don't get any problems with the CMC due to the possibility of oil in the air supply.

I think I have decided to go for the VT75 just to make sure the compressor is not getting over worked.

Thanks again for the replies!

Just be mindful with Bambi's that they have been marketed towards medical industries and in particular dentistry, and as a result if you have a need for a repair a lot of service companies price accordingly. I was once quoted £300 to have an engineer to fix the cutout switch on it. I don't pay that much for a full service of my 3 phase 300L hydrovane.

They are good reliable machines though but things do go wrong on them like any machine in time.
