"Banksy" on a piece of wall

Post by YPF »

Just had this piece collected. Brief story is:

Banksy painting found on an old piece of rendered wall, render was removed in pieces. Eventually pieces put back together and adhered to a piece of ply with a frame made from some rough timber. New render applied to fill in the gaps.

Framed with Larson Juhl Anvil (572620), simple mount to show 2 photos of original wall before and after it was removed, TruVue Museum glass.

Interesting. I assume there was no way to have it 'floating' to emphasise the fact it was a piece of a wall?
Has it been authenticated?

The rough timber frame it had around it was probably the former to keep the new render in place and is directly supporting the piece. It also needed to be covered up. Had the piece of render been smaller then floating it could have been an option but this was 1220mm x 800mm and extremely heavy.

The owner has not had it formally authenticated but strongly believes this is an early Banksy given the outline of the rat visible on the girl's body and the location it was found.

Here's the original Banksy I framed a few years ago. I used some brushed steel coat hooks from B&Q to hold it in place, screwed into the 6mm MDF backing.
