DIY SOS Big Build Veterans Special

Post by Graysalchemy »

This week I was asked by forum member Russ McCulloch if I was up for making 60 frames for DIY SOS Big Build. They are in Manchester for their biggest project to date converting five houses for the Walking with Hero's charity. Well I agreed and we set about organising the making of 60 frames of various sizes.

At this point I must thank Arqadia and Wessex Glass for the generous support without them we would not have been able to do what we did.

Well we started at 8 this morning and by 10 all the rims were cut and jointed. By 3 they were all in frames wrapped and ready to go. (sorry no pictures they are on my camera at work)

Russ had arranged a few promotional shots with the designer Gabrielle Blackman, which we got and ended up being filmed as well whether they show it is another matter.

The two 60 minute DIYSOS Veteran’s Specials are due to broadcast on BBC1 in primetime on: Wednesday 14 October and Wednesday 20 October 2015.

Once again big thanks to Wessex Glass and Arqadia for their support.

I made 14 frames for Gabrielle and the team a couple of years ago. It was for a good cause, a conversion to a house for a young girl confined in a wheelchair.

I have always watched it and thought i should get involved when they are in the area, and never have until now. The design assistant said they always have problems finding framers to do the framing and that it does make such a difference to the houses they do.

Well done Grays, always good to get framing onto the telly :D

I was in a hotel in Norway last week - Quality Hotel Sarpsborg .
No pictures in the rooms, no pictures in the corridors :(
Few pictures in the restaurant :(

At £90 a night you would expect them to be able to buy some pics.

I complained at check out :head: and left a comment on Trip Advisor
Must look and see if they have replied

Nice one, that's a lot of frames.

We did some for them about 18 months ago when they were in Bury, also did some for Peter Andre's 60 minute makeover they did near us last year as well, but not nearly as many as you did.

Well done.

Thats because they will have run out of budget, its always the case, you never get budgets which befit the establishment they are for, the budget has been spent on 'unexpected ' items that architect/designer for got to budget for higher up in the build.

90 quid a night in Norway, that's cheap, no wonder they didn't have any pictures up.
