Machinery Woes

Post by Grahame Case »

hello chaps and chappettes.

we've been doing some major thinking about our machinery over the past few weeks and have realised that our underpinner owes us no favours, as does our Keencut Ultimat, and Morso F, we think spring fair may be time to invest in an E-H Morso a CMC, and a newer (better) Pneumatic underpinner.

firstly. can anyone inform me if the Morso F, a CS88 Foot operated underpinner [our back up underpinner for when our pneumatic one dies] and Keencut Ultimat fetch good value second hand?

and would anyone in their right mind would want to buy a Framers' Corner DMC computerised pnuematic underpinner?

Ebay prices are 5-800 for the morso, depending on condition and inclusion of spare blades & extension arms, For the cassese 150-300, ultimats go for 4-700.

cheers Steve,

our morso is in pretty great shape, recewntly serviced and has 4 sets of blades.

i'm thinking it might be best to sell it on through someone like Ashworth & Thompson or Art Business Today than on eBay, fetch a better price

Might be an idea to list it with Wessex, too, Grahame.

obviously we'd be wanting to pop down to Spring Fair first of all to get an idea of what CMC's are on the market and at what price. and who can do us the juciest spring fair deal on new equipment.

Grahame,
The juiciest deal might not result in you getting the best equipment for your purposes. In my opinion it is always better to pay a little more for equipment if it is better quality!

ah of course Ormond, but we'll be doing our homework in advance of purchase. i know most of the companies to avoid, after our past experiences with them.

i'll of course need to weigh up the valiani/gunnar/wizard debate, each company has strong points.

Grahame,
Those three companies all seem to have good products. I guess features, ease of use of the software and technical backup are probably the most important issues.
I have a Gunnar Rapido that I bought second hand and is now about 10-12 years old and still going strong. It's my favourite toy still after seven years of use.
Cassese is my preference for vee nailers. I have test driven and owned other brands and found none come even close!

I would agree with Osgood - best deal is often not the cheapest. In my experience Ashworth & Thompson are very good for equipment sales - and their installation and after sales service second to none.
