Hi everyone, I have a large, old, green hot press, the sort with the large wheel on top. I got it when I set up as part of a deal, but have never used it in anger. Would anyone like it, or shall I just dump it? It seems to work (i.e. it gets hot), the thermostat works, but the temperature gauge doesn't. It's free if anyone would care to arrange pick up from Dorset. Oh yes, it's heavy!
cheers
Simon
Hot Press
Re: Hot Press
I still have my Ademco hard-bed press.
It's a big lump and sits in a corner hardly ever used except when I get a piece that won't fit in the vac. This is the advantage of these old presses. I could in theory mount something 4ft wide and infinite length. It's a long-winded exercise doing 6-8 'bites', but the capability is there. I keep it because sods law dictates that if I sold it the vac press would break down just when I need it. The old press is a back-up.
If the elements are still sound then you have a working machine. The temp gauge could maybe be replaced with a bit of ingenuity.
* My vac press presently has a hole in the diaphragm waiting to be patched.

Re: Hot Press
Thanks Prospero, but I just have never been required to use it, and if I was I have no idea what to do with the thing! Workshop heater perhaps . . .
Re: Hot Press
I don't do so much mounting nowadays, but it's a great job on a cold, frosty morning. Not so good in a heatwave.

Re: Hot Press
Seems there's no interest, so I'm going to, what's the word, disassemble it! Not using a hammer (yet).

Tried eeeeeeeeebay?
A scrapper might give you a few quids for it.
