Where can I get (but not Lion!)

Post by riclepp »

I don't post here often, but if I need help I do; and that time has arisen again.

I am after the following

Biplex Fluted Polyprop 3mm 48x39
Brown Backing Board 2.2 or 3 mm 48 x 36

Now I can get them from Lion, but don't want to as the make it difficult to by 10 of each (I don't want their dispatch packs). I am finding Lion becoming more and more expensive than they need to be.

Has anyone got any ideas where I can get these from (I normally make furniture, but sometimes make bespoke frames for people).

Many thanks in anticipation.

Cheers

Richard

Don't know about the polypropylene sheets but for the backing board I like Nubord 2.3mm from Wessex (scroll to bottom of page) which sounds similar to Lion.

Notice when a customer complains about the high price of bespoke framing, they are being completely unrealistic and don't appreciate what we do or what it takes to stay in business?

But when a supplier increases the cost of our raw goods and materials, they are gouging us and being absolutely unreasonable!

(Not taking a poke at you Richard... just couldn't resist the opportunity as this simply illustrates human behaviour within all of us.)

As a general rule if you purchase in quantity you can get the better price, if you don't need or want the quantity then you have to pay more. It's the same for the rest of us I fear.

Alan is correct, buy it in quantity or by it from you glass supplier. You are not going to get it really cheap until you buy pallets or you turnover with a supplier warrants discounts. I find putting you business with fewer suppliers is more cost effective.
