I remember reading a few times about people putting a light in the back of a box frame.
From searching these seem to be plugged in.
Is it possible to get these battery operated and what kind of price are they?

I'm not seeing much in that list to help James. Is there a specific listing you saw?

I'm not sure what you're after. But if an eBay search for battery LED lights doesn't come up with something that suit your desires, then I don't know what will!

Re: Backlighting in a frame
The ebay search is bringing up hundreds of decorative fairy lights, heart shaped and flower shaped ones etc.
I know how to search on eBay, but I was hoping other framers had some experience of putting lights into a frame and could point me in the right direction.

I was answering your two questions:
1. "Is is possible"
2. "How much are they"
To which the responses are:
1. "Yes"
2. "Not much"
Your supplementary question, "What have you used previously for backlighting a frame?" I fear I cannot answer, but I'd think fairy lights would work very well for all-round back lighting.

Re: Backlighting in a frame
If you are moderately electronically minded, the I would suggest SMD leds and position them wherever you want in the frame then wiring them up with something small like a 22awg wire or even Kynar if you can track some down.. this would be easily hidden behind the mount/rebate and weighs next to nothing and then can be powered by a PP9 cell... can you tell I used to be an electronics engineer???

Here is one I done earlier http://theframersforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... ng+project
If I was doing this today, I would use LED strips something like these https://online-leds.com/battery-usb-str ... -leds.html
