Hi, I have started up my small picture framing business and it is going well at the moment with work trickling in. I have until now been using a small axminster mitre trimmer but are now considering investing in a second hand morso or something similar
Any advice would be appreciated. When initially looking on eBay I have seen there are a few available, is this the best place to look or are there other places I should be looking?
I would be interested if anybody has one for sale or knows of one for sale, but also if you could give me some advice on what things I need to look for when buying one of these second hand?
Also are there specific models I should consider, I have seen model f advertised and also a morso mitre maker which in all honesty looks exactly the same
Any help would be appreciated, also should I consider something other than Morso, such as a Hansen or something else ??
Thanks, Steve

Re: Morso Guillotine / Mitre Cutter
Steve,
if you have the space,a good first/second/third-hand Morso is the kit for you and will give you accurate mitres and identical lengths on your frame sides.
Have you had a look at the sales section http://theframersforum.com/viewforum.php?f=7 .
All the best
Brian

Morsos are pretty tough cookies. One that's has had moderate use for quite a few years will still
perform as new. The ones to avoid are ones that have been hammered and abused and done
a lot of work.
One way to tell is to see if the pivot holes on the pedal are oval rather than round.

Re: Morso Guillotine / Mitre Cutter
I've seen some for sale that look as though they have had very little use.
Guide price around 6-800.
If there are spare sets of blades included, bear in mind that a new set would run about 200 quids.
* I bought mine new in 1984 and it may be a bit mucky but it's still going strong. You can't have it though.

Thanks prospero some good guidance here I am definitely on the path to a Morso it's just finding a good one
It will be a squeeze to fit it in the workshop but should be able to reconfigure to accommodate
Thanks again, Steve
