Morso rebate supports

Post by drpeej »

I have just acquired a second hand Morso guillotine.

I am finding that the left and right rebate supports foul on each other if I try to use them both and try to slide them in to touch the moulding. Is this because I am only meant to use one at a time or have I possibly assembled them wrong?

I think I have worked out what I was doing wrong

I was not taking a deep enough bite for my first cut and was pushing the rebate supports in too far - beyond the blade point. If I take a bigger bite first time I can push the supports in far enough

Problem sorted!

That doesn't sound right; your first cut can be as thin as a piece of paper. Put a picture up of your set-up!

Glad the problem is solved. :D

The rebate supports on the Morso can be a bit clunky to use. You can get this handy add-on
which cunningly holds the supports at a set distance. I find it invaluable and stops the supports
binding in the guides.

Later model Morsos have the two holes in the cutter housing pre-drilled. I had to drill mine. :?

Here is the picture showing what I mean. The left hand rebate support has been pushed forward and is obstructing the RH one

(Not sure how to insert images so have uploaded it as an attachment)

Does anyone know where this accessory is available?

I bought mine just before Christmas from Lion. I couldn't find it in their catalogue but a quick phone call solved it. I can't recall their reference but I recall the Morso reference number is 0900. They were able to find them from that

Hi, just found the invoice. Part number 2858 £145 +vat. Very useful and handy. Depending on the year of manufacture of your Morso relatively easy to fit. Some Morso's have pre-drilled holes.

I've checked and mine does have the holes. I'm going up to Lion on Monday so will enquire. Thanks

I went up to Lion today and picked one up. Works well and easy to fit.

One warning: don't do what I did and use an impact driver to insert the ST screws. One of them sheared and it was a hell of a job to drill out and fit another
