too much choice?!
Ive been aware for many years that the choice we have in todays
society can paralyse us in making a decision.I was reading a book
which actually proved this.A psychologist did an experiment
in a supermarket selling 24 varieties of jelly one day
and 6 the next, the day when there were six ,sold more!
the experiment was repeated many times with the same results
makes you think how many mouldings to stock!

That's interesting I'm busy reducing my stock of mouldings, as I am down sizing and intending to create more working space. So it's nice to know that I might be doing the right thing!

No, I'm getting rid of stuff that's been hanging around too long and there's a few that I used to stock in larger quantities, but will mostly order in as I need them, or possibly only stock a length, or two at a time. I want to re-position my business to add some new ideas and need space to do this.

Re: too much choice?!
One can interpret the results differently....
I think that one might compare the jars of product on the shelf to how many mouldings you present to a customer, rather than the number of mouldings that you carry in inventory....

In fact, I'd say it's the only way to interpret and apply them to a framing context!

It's nice to have a big display of chevrons. Show people you are a force to be reckoned with.
But when it comes down to it, if you had 1000 samples you would only use maybe 50 on a regular basis, some once in a blue moon
and most never.

Prospero, what do you generally stock? 15 mouldings, 100 combinations?
Re: too much choice?!
No idea how may mouldings. More than 15. Although there are probably 15 that I use more than
I use all the others.
Combinations? Squillions.
