Wondering if anyone has some input on one of these older CTD D20 saws. I'm considering purchasing one, and am wondering about the accuracy of the cuts, is there any additional tweaking of joints that needs to be done after the cuts to ensure a gap-free joint?
Are they fairly trouble-free to own/operate in a work environment?
Thanks in advance

Hi Popular guy and welcome to the UK's Framers Forum
You may well get more informed answers to you question if asked on "The Grumble" a USA based forum for picture framers.
I'm very sorry but I am not familiar with that make of saw however, I hope someone comes along who can help.
Very best of luck.
Peter.

Thank you, I'll be sure to do that as well.
Much appreciated.

CTD saws are made in Loa Angelus, CA. They make reliable industrial grade saws.
If you are looking at the eBay listing of the $2,800 range saw it looks overpriced IMHO. The "head only" $500 listing looks like scrap metal.
I owned a used CTD 45A saw for many years of quality service and I paid $2,000 for it.

Jerome, thanks for your insight, didn't even know about either of those saws.JFeig wrote:CTD saws are made in Loa Angelus, CA. They make reliable industrial grade saws.

Might I ask you how accurate the cuts were with the CTD you used? Did you ever need to do any final tweaking of the miters if you were using them for picture frames?

It made perfect cuts every time. There are adjustments to the base of each motor mounts should angle adjustment be needed. I never touched them in about 20 years of use.
P.S. The model I had was a 45AX
