Birds Heads!!
Hi All, anyone help with some clues on how to frame a small birds head!! The box frame is no problem but its how to attach it securely. I was thinking about 3 pins through the mountcard into the skull but any ideas would be really appreciated. See photo. Rob from Wantage.

Put the bird's head in a cardboard box and bury it in your garden

Get some linen thread and try to latch onto a piece of skin.
Try not to pull too hard or you can tear it.

Re: Birds Heads!!
I would be inclined to secure the head with a couple of Melinex stripes easily hidden by the feathers. No matter how good the Taxidermist is the head, exposed to the air, will deteriorate over time.
If you would like a few stripes of Melinex pm me with your address and I will be pleased to pop some in the post.
Peter.

Hi Rob
Thanks for your pm.
I posted some Melinex and an example of how I would approach this job to you this afternoon and I am posting the answer to your question in this section as general information.
PEL (Preservation Equipment Ltd) carry a full range of conservation material. They are based in Diss, Norfolk Te; 01379 647400. A really good/helpful company to deal with, have a look at their website and you will see they carry Melinex in 6 thicknesses measured in microns. PEL usually have a stand in the Wessex Roadshows when in this part of the country.
That's a very sizeable order btw so good luck with it
Hope this helps
