Hi all
Does anyone know of anywhere that does a ‘super’ jumbo mountboard circa 1200mm x 1200mm
Thanks

Have a look at Rising mountboard from Centrado, Looks like they do a 72 inch by 48 inch board which should be big enough for you. I think you can buy single boards from them but might be an issue with something this big.

This is the Rising board website. It shows what they produce.

Re: Super Jumbo Mountboard
Just seen this thread. I have just picked up an order for a mahoosive frame needing a 1240 x 1320 mount! I can always use a slip instead and paint it, but I would rather not. I see that Centrado can supply the Rising boards at up to 104" x 60" but who on earth can cut apertures in something this big?!
Any pointers appreciated please.
Thanks, Adrian

Large bench, straightedge(wooden) and a hand mountcutter, simple

The guide rail of my mountcutter lifts off. As Steve said you need a "large bench"
I place the guide rail on the pencil line, cut 2/3 ft, keep the blade in the cut, slide the guide rail through the handle holding the blade and continue the cut. I find this method allows a seamless cut and keeps the work in house. Very important to me being a one-man-band running a very busy framing shop and before the days of CMC's.
Peter.

Re: Super Jumbo Mountboard
what I tend to do is
get a length of straight wood, longer than the mount, put you slipmat on the big bench, put your mount face down on the slipmat, hopefully you have marked on the back of the mount where the window will be. tape the ends of the wood to the bench, you should be able to slide your mount under the wood, line up your markings with the wood, I normally climb on the bench and kneel on the wooden straightedge to keep it in place, now get your hand mountcutter and start at one end, plunge the blade in and slowly move along the mount cutting it, repeat for the other 3 sides, simple , job done

Re: Super Jumbo Mountboard
Great - thanks for the advice everyone. I have a hand cutter but it is in a drawer somewhere so will have to get practising!
Thanks again, Adrian
