Ricky - Barnard Castle Frames

Post by Not your average framer »

It is with deep sadness, that I have to announce the passing of Ricky who has been a forum member for many years. Another moderator was contacted concerning his passing away, and this moderator contacted me yesterday. Having made enquiries from the orginal contact who had orginally contacted by other moderator to verify the news, as best as I can, I guess it falls to me to make this announcement.

I met Ricky as a result of him attending my hand finishing training course. He was great fun and someone who once met is not easily forgotten. He took to hand finishing very well and if I remember correctly he also had family in nearby Plymouth. I am like many others very sad to hear this news. Besides being a framer, he was also a country singer and better known by his music fans as Dixon J Scott.

There are tributes to him on his facebook page and it appears that he was a victim of the current epidemic.

That's very sad news. I didn't know about the other side of his life and it sounds as if he'll be sorely missed by a great many people, as well as his presence on here.

This is such tragic news just read his casual message that said he hoped he just had the Flu. My sincerest thoughts go out to his family who although I never personally knew him sounded like a truly nice person.

Terrible news (but thanks for letting us know, Mark).

Always a good laugh on here and very generous with his knowledge.

Many of his posts, particularly regarding jobs that he was doing are well worth taking another look at. He was very gifted and produced so much really excellent work.

I haven't posted for quite a while - but felt the need to express the deep sadness of all the boys & girls at Wessex in Oldham.

I have known Ricky for a lot of years - both from my time at Hot Press & then with Wessex. He was a good customer - but more importantly - a really nice bloke.

Ricky - we will miss you greatly,
Steve & the Staff - Wessex Oldham.

I knew Ricky from a good few years back when he purchased a scanner off me. We chatted for some while and it was then that he mentioned the alter ego "Dixon J Scott" He was very well known on the north eastern club scene and I suspect that his country singing was the bigger part of his life. He always produced excellent work, much of which he discussed on here.

He did die of the Corona virus. Its a really nasty one that is gaining momentum. My own daughter is laid up with a severe dose, so I know what its like.

I shall sadly miss Ricky/

RIP

Just read Ricky's message above (in purple). Really shocking how people are being told to just 'get on with it'.

I'm not knocking anyone around the world for how the pandemic is being handled. We're in brand new and terrifying territory - I'm sure the powers-that-be everywhere are doing their best. It just seems like no one knows what to do for the best.

This all feels like a bad made-for-TV movie you'd switch off.........because it's too far-fetched.

Ricky's message is so poignant. R.I.P. mate.

You had better beleive this one Paul. It's not only real, but needs taking very seriously indeed. BTW, thank for reminding me about the high dose vitamin D tablels, I'm now taking them. Hopefully most of us will get through this, but there's no harm in trying to tip the odds in your favour a bit.

I'm speechless. Ricky always came across like one of the good guys. I never met the man but I feel a real sense of loss here. I'm honestly saddened by this news. Sorry man, you were taken too soon.
