Back of window mats torn up by Gunnar 601
Thanks for the add. I am using a Gunnar 601XL that due to Covid has been sitting unused for months. My dilemma is that the back of my window mats are really getting chewed up by cutter when it makes its turn. The fronts of the mats look clean. Thus far I have checked blade depth, changed blades, and tried giving it less overcut. Even when overcut is reduced to the point of not cutting all the way through, its still really tearing up the back. Its also creating drag marks on the mat which I circled on the example pic. Thanks for any thoughts - advice.

This same problem has been mentioned before. If it's the same cause, then I think that it has something to do with a lack of clamping pressure holding the board down and preventing the board moving, while being cut. The original thread bout this may still be present on the forums older threads, if so it might be worth looking for.
Another possibilty is that the head has become misaligned since it was last used.

Are you cutting 'Face Down' or Face Up'
is it only happening with this mountboard or all your boards
Silly Question, have you tried a new blade
Give Sarah a ring at Gunnar

Hi Sierra Photography
This looks as though the head is turning before the blade has fully retracted meaning its sticking. You can test this theory by using Safe Turn. Since the machine has not been is use for a while it suggests that the head is probably a bit gummed up and could with a clean and a spot of lubrication. You are a bit outside the GUNNAR UK remit but I'm sure that if you contact GUNNAR USA they will be able to help you.
Regards
