Re: Wanted Lion Bench End Guillotine
I would like to point out that Lion guillotines are not the only secondhand guillotines that are likely to be around. Many of the less modern versions are a lot more solid than the modern and more flimsy types. I picked up both of my own bench end guillotines as secondhand (oneis a spare just in case. The blade on both of them is about 10mm thick and I got them at separate times very cheaply. Mine have 30 inch long blades, but are designed so you can feed longer pieces of material through the step by step.
Old ones usually work very well! Mine are both relatively blunt, but still produce a perfect cut every time. The older and more sustatnial ones never wear out and never need any spare parts. As a rule many of the older ones do not have a perspex guard along side the blade and his enables you to cut standard size strut backs to fit non-stsandard size frames with ease, as the height of the blade can easily pass between the strut and the back, which is very helpful at times! Older and more substantial bench end guillotines cut usually cut thicker backing boards will ease, mine will easily cut 4mm backing boards with no significant effort at all.
